Re: Mot check page..free....for now

I use this one https://totalcarcheck.co.uk but the way it shows the stats on that one you linked is quite good, thanks for sharing.

Re: Retro wheels from way back when

There a bit similar to MOMO arrows Yeah I tried explaining them to someone previously and they said momo arrows but I knew they weren’t. The momo spokes are straight all the way down and these taper. I actually wouldn’t mind something like this now. Would probably suit my big bumper better than the...

Re: Is there an archive of MK2's still in existence since the first registered date? (from their release on 01/03/1984)

The problem with howmanyleft is the data itself. Pre-2000 when mk2 Golfs were all new there was no database as such so the details entered by DVLA at time of registering varies massively depending on what the individual that filed the record put down on the form. Some may have just recorded Golf, wh...

Retro wheels from way back when

Back in the late 90s when I bought my for Mk2 Golf, a 87 early spec alpine white 3dr GTI which turned out to have been through the hands of GTI Engineering and had a plus pac fitted. It also had a few other mods: a Zender boot spoiler - which had caused the tailgate to rot so it got binned when I re...

Re: Preventing Eng start in Bentley.

In your profile is say GTD. You won't have a coil lead or distributor cap... ?? But for a petrol, it would be like when you test a spark plug, you would need to ground it to complete a safe circuit. Removing the coil lead would prevent a spark, so you can continuously crank the car but it will never...

Re: MK2 Specialist Gloucester

No personal experience of them but there's V-Hub in Tewkesbury. I did pop in there once and chat to them, seemed helpful enough but I never went ahead to get any work done. Not particular a classic specialist though. A service is an easy job and good way to start to understand the car and get some m...

Re: Carpets

It's been brought to my attention, (Thanks Rich) that the South African cars are worth a mention. These are also RHD cars, and the carpet has a much thicker pile, more like "carpet" and has a rubber embossed VW logo on the rhd kick plate. There are also some one piece versions. https://edd...
