Anyone know if the thermo time switch is a specific 16v k-jet one or a generic one...?

Struggling to get any websites up at work!

I'm pretty certain they're generic, but check on here - http://www.partsbase.org/vw/eu/

Just find the part on your model then search the part number at the top of the page and it will list all models it's on ;)

Ok, need help guys...
This cold starting problem is really annoying me now. Hot starting is fine.

The car is getting into cold season and not wanting to start 'easily':
It needs cranking over and over to start. It seems to help if I have my foot flat on the accelerator. It coughs into life but then hunts and I have to hold it steady on the throttle for 20secs or so. Then it's perfect and runs fantastically.

Things that have been replaced due to leaks:
Main pressure pump, plastic tank, accumulator, fuel filter.

Things that have been checked:
Cold start valve is firing when cold, so all associated systems for that are good,
Fuel pressure has been checked - control pressure and system pressure both spot on, so WUR and associated systems good.
CO2 is at 1.64%.

Spark plugs/dizzy cap and rotor all replaced when serviced.

There will have been other things I've done and maybe forgotten about.

HELP!

Going to try another WUR tomorrow.

Looks as though someone's been at it - the 4socket screws and bolts have all been replaced with quality st/st items...
Back's not been drilled so I may do that before I put it on.

Better get some old updates on here while I have a chance...

The reason why the tyres were scrubbing so much:

2 degrees toe out!

Tried polishing up the exhausts and I am very pleased

Cool!

Also got some LED dash lights and complimentary Haribo!

Got some stainless steel sunroof deflector arms

A bargain from someone on here

WUR - drilled out for future mods by me but stainless screws and bolts are a mystery....?

Still no change in today's cold starting but I notices that some of the rubber tube connections were a little loose so I fitted jubilee clips to them and we'll find if it's made any difference tomorrow.

Night-night!

Re: sicklyorange's D-reg 16v daily - top mounts and brake pads

Postby sicklyorange » Wed Jun 01, 2016 9:46 pm

Evening all,
One of the top mounts is rattling like mad when the wheel is of the ground.

Can't remember what is recommended to replace the standard ones with - is it the G60 ones? Where from- GSF, VW Heritage? VW Spares?

Also are people still using green stuff pads (on the front) or are there better alternatives these days?

Thanks in advance, :)
Rich
