That looks sooooo good.

Don't sell it you will regret it as soon as it drives off with the new owner...you will want to chase after it waving the cash shouting noo take the money back...

I’m seeing prices plateau now and had to work had to sell my last one. I got £7k for my Oak Green with original engine 170k if that helps, but I think I got lucky tbh. I’d keep it if I were you, as you maybe disappointed what you get offered for it. Most were offering around £5k.

Don't sell it mate! You will definitely regret it, I certainly did!
Keep it and develop it.

Remember, if you fancy a change, you can always stick a different engine in

Stunning car that is you've done a great job with it! Good inspiration for me to push on with mine.
Couldn't imagine selling mine after putting in all the hard work, not unless someone offered me silly money!

ive gotten back into model plane flying and just invested a load of money back into it including loads of FPV gear and a racing drone. The golf can just stay int he garage all winter and keep dry while i make a decision on it

time to get back ont he car after it just sitting in the garage all winter.

First job is to replace the cam cover gasket, its failed on the rear and caused a bit of an oil leak which the MOT tester picked up on. ive been cleaning up the cam cover in order to paint it crackle black while im there.

i looked into fitting R8 coilpacks but you cant do it on the older AGU engines due to the wire harness. Its alot more work to splice in the new loom elements which doesnt bother me, but not at this time of year when i want to start driving it.

the cams are in great condition! and after cleaning up the mating faces, its looking ready to go back together with new gaskets.

Another busy weekend pushing on with the car.

Finished cleaning up the cam cover, masked up ready to paint

Idle pulley bearing was rough so took that apart, cleaned up all the aluminium, chemically treated it and then cleaned again and clear coated it... i also did this with the bracket on the front of the engine for the alternator

Image

Took the bearing out thinking i could just replace it... looks like its easier to just replace the assembaly

Image

Stripped the alternator to check the bearings as it sounded a bit gritty..

Image

Outer shaft bearing in the casing is all good... inner is gritty..Part number for it in pic. ordered a new bearing and will replace that.

Image

did loads more cleaning up of the alternator casing, i will clear coat this when done.

and put some of it back in to get an idea of how its looking.

It reminds me of those partly stripped engines you see in museums!
