Ok, so I've got a bit of money saved now and I'm looking to buy either a g60 engine or something else cool to put in the car. Something on twin carbs or throttle bodies or maybe a TSR or GTI Engineering lump.

If anyone knows of anything decent for sale, please drop me a pm :)

Cheers

Exciting things have happened - I drove to Carlisle the other week and picked up a G60 from a Rallye.

Charger has had work and a smaller pulley, red injectors and a 285 Cam - its supposed to be running around 220bhp which will be plenty quick enough for me.

The charger has been sent to OCD for a full rebuild and I have started to clean up the block and tidy it to get it ready to drop in. There is a fair few parts that I need to source as well.

Polished up the Alternator

from this...

to this....

Bad pic and its not perfect but a million times better than it was.

Next up i'm going to polish the cam cover and fit a new gasket as well as paint the charger brackets and the Intercooler has a pinhole so will need to get that re-cored as well.

Cheers

Right so while the charger is away I've made a list of everything else that I think I'll need to get this in and running...

Loom converted to CE1
Intercooler Re-core
Rallye U Bend
Intercooler Pipework
uprated clutch - looking at the black forest industries stage one clutch
Rad and slimline fan - G60 or I've heard a 1.3 Rad will also work well?
Mk3 fuel tank and vr6 pump + wiring and fuel lines
Low temp thermostat and fan switch
waterpump
cambelt kit
spark plugs
exhaust and manifold - liking the look to the trackslag 2.5 system but not sure what manifold to go for
Lamba sensor
battery

I'm going to keep the 020 box but will get the diff bolted in and looking at either the USRT smartshifter upgrade or the missinglinkz upgrade.

I've already purchased a solid front engine mount, stage 1 BFI gearbox mount, air box and a few other little bits and I think most of the water pipework can come off my current 1.6

In the mean time i'm keeping my eyes peeled on the facebook sites and ebay for bargains on any of the above and if anyone knows of someone selling g60 bits please pm me.

Right so good things and bad things have happened!

Good thing... Passed it's MOT with only two advisories which was brilliant!

Bad thing... Broken down on the way back from the garage due to the immobiliser coming on and staying on at all times, which wasn't great!

I couldn't work out what was wrong with the immobiliser but I did, after a bit of head scratching, manage to remove it fully so the car is fully working again!

Then I gave her a good clean in readiness for Players on Sunday!

Not too much has happened with this as my garage has been taken over by building materials but got a little time today to fit a set of clocks with a rev counter.

Should be able to finally get the engine out and prep the bay for the G60 in the next couple of months.

So I’ve ticked a fair few bits off my part list now - I think I just need the below.
Loom converted to CE1

Rad and slimline fan

Mk3 fuel tank and vr6 pump + wiring and fuel lines

Low temp thermostat and fan switch

waterpump

exhaust

&

Lamba sensor

Also ordered loads of small but expensive bits for the engine rebuild.

Cheers
