Brilliant job! I never realised some were built in Bosnia, I always assumed Germany. I've got to say that Alpine white is possibly the best colour on a MK2, provided the paint is good and no or little corrosion. Not a popular colour back then either.

I've got to say, the Sebrings, good choice!

Thank you very much. It is always nice to hear that someone else thinks you are keeping your car looking good... Thank you, it means a lot.
About the Sebrings. Yes, i really like the look of it. I have fabricated the centre caps, so that the side is flat. I like details like this that separates the car from others...

Yes, they were made near Sarajevo in a factory called Tvornica Automobila Sarajevo (TAS), in what was then Yugoslavia. They produced a special "JX" version specifically for the Yugoslavian market that had a lower spec than elsewhere. I think they had some special badges too. Production ended in '92 with the war.

I went to Croatia a couple of years ago and saw loads of them! Real workhorses. And loads of TAS mk1s too.

Yes, TeeTee beat me to it, hehe.
My fathers diesel was a TAS golf. It was really good, but when i made some research, the Bosnian production was really, really different. Main difference was in welding if i remember correctly...

The Wolfsburg factory was one of the most advanced and automated in the world at the time, so presumably the TAS Golfs were made using slightly older technology (and were perhaps a little more "handmade"). It was the same with the Westmoreland plant in the US, I think.

How is it getting spares in Bosnia? You could probably start a nice little business breaking old TAS cars and shipping the bits to us here.

Parts for Golfs in my area are plenty, but as you said, Golf Mk.2 is known as a working horse here, 95% are diesels driven to the max... Finding parts is easy, finding parts in good condition is a mission on its own. Like anywhere else i think.

Hello friends
It has been long since i wrote anything in my topic.
Not much has been going on. I have just been enjoying the car, keeping it serviced and doing some touch ups here and there.
Plans for the future is simple, installing the fog lights and clean the engine bay.
Meanwhile, it is still going strong and i think that still having the right style and condition.
Hope you like it.
Photo is courtesy of my girlfriend Polona. She really has a photographic gift and knowledge, i think.
