Power steering sudden issue

Postby Tracee » Thu Jul 11, 2019 3:26 pm

Right my MK2 8v with power steering was working absolutely fine over the past 2 weeks it's been parked nose down at the bottom of the drive (fairly steep) today I reversed it back up the drive and the steering is now very notchy? Any ideas? The fluid is half way between min & max.

Mine does that when belt goes loose or when raining, normally more prominent turning one way.

Ok cool thanks, mine needs replacing as does the cam belt but those
bolts look like they don't wanna play... Any suggestions or just go out swear alot at it!

Penetrating oil/spray and look for a 'hidden' bolt on power steering bracket from memory. Its inline with hoses behind flat metal, look at diagrams or for posts already showing location.

If bolts and adjuster not rusted then it's just more time consuming than it needs to be, if rounded off, can be a nightmare.
Good luck.
