Title: loose gl upholstry
Post by: mk24ever on February 26, 2022, 06:38:03 PM
specific with the comfy gl upholstery, after some use,
a mdf clamping bar is dangling on the fabric edge on the back of the seat
(so, probably first on the drivers seat).

@8v_chris has posted (https://www.vwgolfmk2.co.uk/clubforum/index.php?topic=35) a picture, which illustrates the problem (which made posting tempting):

has @8v_chris/anyone fixed this before ? what to do best ?

The bar is very thick dense card. It pokes into a slot on the rear of the metal seat back.

It's VERY easy to remove the seat.

Remove the seat guide covers, black plastic trims the length of the seat.
Undo the 10mm bolt front of seat and slide the seat out of the back of the runners.
Flip the seat over so you can see the underside.
Prize open the slot a little with a large flat screwdriver.
Push the card lip thing back in place then lightly tap the slot closed again tight with a screwdriver.

It will all make perfect sense when you flip the seat over and see it.

the fabric was to short to put it back in pace.

so i removed the dangling cardboard with a cutter knife,
placed foamy double sided tape,
left  a border, flapped it backwards
and pressed it against the yellow foam.

time will tell how good of an idea it was.
