Title: Door drop
Post by: thedumbterminal on October 21, 2023, 10:04:27 PM
Hi, I have a 3 door and it seems the door does not close very well due to lock not aligning correctly with the catch.

I presume this is from years of abuse by a driver leaning on the door to get in or out.

At the moment I can shut the door with either a gentle slam or have to lift the door as I close it.

I need to lift it maybe 1cm if that.

Anyone know a good way to get the door back to the correct alignment?

Thanks in advance

Usually requires new door pins. Sometimes new door hinges.

Do the door pins bend? Just wondering if it will be noticeable before removing the door?

Try lifting the door when its slightly ajar you should see where the play is.

It's usually the bottom pin that wears. If you decide to replace it, replace the half hinge as well. Be aware you will need to use a reamer on the hinge half as the pin will be too big. A temporary fix is to put a washer between the top hinge and door.
