Hi there. I have just joined. I have a Golf GTI 16 valve Mark 2 4 door. It belonged to my dad and needs work. Gave it to a mechanic who said they would be able to "fix" it for me but hopeless. Apparently the car starts but then cuts out. I need a Golf Specialist to review the car and get it to run. The car is low mileage as dad hardly used it, he just enjoyed polishing it! Once the car is running, I would love to sort out the bodywork. The car is located in a garage in North London so it would be good if the specialist was based here. The end result would be to sell it after having enjoyed it a little. I would love to bring it back to its glory, Can someone help?

But if you're transporting it and want to go further afield, I know a very good garage in Somerset.
Called Hillside Garage in Chard. The chap who runs it used to be a VW master tech when the mk2 was about and he's had a few as well.
Thanks for that. It is a little too far and I am sure the transport costs will be high. I may however get in touch and see what he says. THANK YOU AGAIN....
