Steering now too heavy for my wife. Want to convert to PAS. Is electric the way to go?

I converted my mk2 by using the rack & pipes from a mk3, I actually fitted the whole crossmember and wishbones / driveshafts to 'widetrack' the front and also used the better 'hydraulic' rear engine mount / bracket (kit was from a mk3 golf tdi)
