Title: Oldie but a newbie!
Post by: 85_type19 on April 01, 2021, 08:53:05 AM
I have rejoined the forum after MANY years, i had my first mk2 in 87! it was an 84 plate type 19. Since then I have probably had 15 plus mk1s, mk2, mks3 and corrado's!  After a long break and several kids, i have recently purchased a 1985 mk2 8v type 19 gti. My aim is to restore it to its original oem condition after years of doing it the other way round.

It has had many guises over the years with one owner for the last 30! it's been in pvw many times but now its going back to stock!  so far i have sourced the ev 1.8 engine and box, from Redcar! Some door cards and front seats that match the original spec...

I will post separately on the car as i need some help decoding the original options - the tools i have used don't show them, any thoughts there appreciated.
