Title: Front Bumper Removal
Post by: Andy.D on April 06, 2021, 08:14:30 PM
Evening all,

Thoughts on supporting engine/gearbox whilst removing front bumper on a 1991 big bumper Mk2?

There seems to be a difference of opinion on the tinterweb so thought I'd consult the oracles of all things Mk2.

Cheers

Front bumper comes out ok, just don't undo the cross member bolts

Am I right in thinking the crossmember bolts are the  13mm ones and the bumper bolts are the 17mm ones (4 off)?

Sound about right, deffo 4 bumper bolts 2 either side.
But if your unsure you can put a trolley jack under cross member where the front mount is.

That's right, they're designed to hold the engine up while you work on the car, but whatever you do, don't drive without the 17mm ones in!
