Headlights 1990 H plate Golf GTI MK2 16v

Just bought the above car and want to replace the headlight bulbs which are quite dim.

What is the brightest / best bulb I can fit without having to replace / upgrade the wiring.

Advice would be most welcome

Great purchase!

Honestly, I've just upgraded mine and I would look for two things.

The uprated wiring loom and night breaker bulbs (others are available so you decide👍)

The loom puts 12v to bulbs instead of the 9v atm,
Also by the D/S headlight you'll find a yellow connector.. if it has a resisiter shaped like a packet of polos.. unclip it. You don't have to clip anything in ace but that also helps

The above is a great recommendation, though I wouldn't buy that particular loom.
H4 Booster kit

This is the same one, but only for £12.
Only thing is it's from China, so you'll have to wait a while for delivery.
