Re: Stanford Hall VW Show - 5th May 2019

Baz, my mk2 is stuck in a bodyshop. Can I come in my mk1?

Also, can you post me my pass if I am allowed? I'll cover the postage cost. I've a 40th birthday / 10th wedding anniversary the night before so I'm leaving home at the latest possible moment...

selling advice

No, not for me. I have an elderly friend who has an extremely original, very low mileage 1987 mk2 that he's looking to sell. It was originally owned by the wife of one of his friends; she used it to go shopping once a week, so it did less than 1000 miles a year for the first 21 years of its life. He...

Re: Mk2 monza

I’ve had this problem. I used a craft knife to cut the plastic shroud thing around the screw, which allows you to pull the screw and the remainder of the plastic shroud out. You’ll be left with a bigger hole for the new screws. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Genuine-Light-Attachment-Adjusters-Bolts/dp/B07...

Re: General reliability and regular use

Just after we left home on the aforementioned wedding trip, we had to stop at some traffic lights. It’s a tricky junction as it’s a very narrow central London road and cars can park along the side on which cars have to queue at the lights - you have to stop very close to them to allow enough room fo...

General reliability and regular use

I try to use mine regularly and try not to worry too much about how or when or in what weather conditions it’s used. In the last few months I’ve been up to Yorkshire and back, ragged it down to a wedding in the Cotswolds, driven halfway around the M25 to collect some Castellets, and done an Ikea tri...

Re: (Help Needed) Is this GTI a Yay or Nay?

Hello! It looks like quite a lot of changes have been made to me. The exterior has been altered, obviously, but it looks to have had serious work done to the engine and running gear too. There’s nothing wrong with all that so long as you’re sure it’s been done to a good standard, but it does make it...
