Wow! Looks a whole lot better now you've looked after it a bit. Unlucky with the chain failing, I didn't realise that could happen, stupidly thinking it was only belts that failed. I'm assuming you've not had any more major problems since?

Learning new things every time I look. Thanks for the comments guys :) Locally there is a vectra sri up for grabs, a E300 merc and a '95 volvo 950 and a nice looking mondie ghia X so may have to take a good look over them and see what feels right. All the V70s seem to be asking just above budget for...

Personally I'd get something like a mk3 Mondeo estate, cavernous boot and cheap too. I'd picked up something about an issue with the duel mass flywheels on the Mk3 mondeo, the fail at around 100,000 mile mark or something? So I'd sort of discounted them but perhaps I'm wrong to not think about that...

Driveshaft bolts that are the M8 size multi splined heads different from the star type as they have more splines. They can be a bugger to get out as they are high torqued (hence the need for new bolts) incidentally if you're after a mk2 CV joint I have a brand new one for sale with new bolts include...
