BRAKE LINES HELP PLEASE

Postby Pootz » Tue May 21, 2019 2:56 pm

Well after finally passing the mot it's now time to smarten the mk2 up a bit, starting with the brake pipes.

Front ones are original and rears have been replaced but badly routed so if you people could kindly help me out, I need to know the following.....

A - how much brake pipe do I need to buy?
B - is cupro nikel or stainless the best to use?
C - What size union nuts do I need and how many?
D - how many of each type of clip do I need for the complete system ?
E - is there a diagram of where the clips go?
F - can anyone post a link to the braided hoses (front and rear) that I need?

I think that's all for now
Cheers

pretty sure that theres kits online(EBAY) complete...all you have to do is reroute. 4 pieces for sure.
the stainless option is more difficult as less flexible than the copper nickel option, as for fittings would depend whats on car/caliper already but 3/8th is a common size, from 1980s.

It's a 1.8 GL (1990) so disc at front and drum at rear.

I'd prefer to get my own stuff and get my mechanic to make it all up though tbh
