Break fluid pot

Postby Gaz » Wed Jul 24, 2013 10:15 pm

Is there any way of cleaning this dirty little bugger up or am I better off buying a new one?

Come to think of it are they even still available to buy new?

A plastic bottle which copes with brake fluid.

They're reassuringly expensive.

I find the only way to get a clean one is to go to a scrappy and get one from a car that has sat in the sun for years.

I'm bored of offering you screens anyways.

I hope you got the £350, I was pretty tempted myself but I have no use.

I know this is an old post and you've probably cleaned it by now ?!! But here's my solution for anyone who is interested. I searched the net and suggestions were to put in the dishwasher.

I managed to get mine 95% clean using GUNK, however I couldn't get the grime just above the normal level marker. Tried pipe cleaners but the central "filter-thingy" restricted access.

Eventually I sealed the top with a plastic bag, crushed part of a dishwasher tablet and poured it down one of the two outlets. Then put enough hot water in it to cover the grime. I periodically gave it a swish, then left the whole thing overnight in a bucket of hot water with the rest of the dishwasher tablet. Rinsed it out the next morning and it looks gr8. I didn't do the same to the top tho !
