Dab stereo

Postby CrazyHorse » Tue Mar 12, 2019 9:53 pm

I want to put a dab head unit in but don't want to go drilling new holes etc. What have others done?

- do dab splitters work off the roof mount aerial (preferred choice)
- I wouldn't mind putting a small one in the windscreen but most I've looked at look quite big and reviews seem hit and miss.

Any other suggestions?

The only ones I've used are the windscreen ones from Halfords but found out that they're less noticeable on the drivers side due to how the wire runs into them. I did think about sticking one either under the scuttle tray or taking the door card off and seeing if I could fit it behind there so it's hidden.
Only other option was run it to the tailgate

It's not the cheapest, but you can get the bee sting aerials that are both analogue and DAB, apparently they are also the best for signal too.
I was considering this, before I decided to just use my phone to stream the radio.

I hadn't even thought about the streaming option - that's probably the easiest way.
I'll take a look at DAB bee sting - I presume that will require extra wires running through the roof lining though?

Yeah it will.
In the end I used a parrot hands free kit to do away with the head unit completely and just run my speakers off my phone.
Used the space to put some gauges in.
