Like wise, where did you get the wiring numbers from?
I've got to do the wiring for my v5 conversion at somepoint,.

I've got them from RS in the past...

The numbers are heatshrink tubing from a Dymo. I used the same to label some of the other wires, heatshring onto the cable then heatshrink some clear tubing to protect.

Was just curious, thinking about it, the metal bracket holding fuses / live feed to battery on MK4 is not earthed.

You should look into an air con undertray.
Might buy you the space you need with an OEM finish

Have you got a fuse on the main power feed to your fusebox (i.e. under the bonnet)?
It's all about preventing a fire if you binned it hard.

I've been after one for a while. Might have to keep an eye on German eBay

My Battery is in the boot and I'll be fitting a cube fuse as part of this work. Initially I was going to run the cables through the wing but if someone went into the side of the car and damaged the live cable, I hate to imagine the end result. So, live cable comes out the bulkhead and alongside the chassis leg.

Selecting the right size fuse might be a bit of a pain as the starter sucks allot of juice and I'll have to select a fuse 'weaker' than what the main cable can support. Once the engine is running again I'll see what size fuse is sufficient.

I did break a mk4 where the holder for fuses 1-3 had melted, though lots had melted under the bonnet.
