Only surface rust so gave it a good sanding and a couple of coats of Hydrate 80. Sprayed it with some Satin black metal paint Image

And fitted back on the car with a new master cylinder, looking much better. Took the drivers seat out this time to make things a bit easier to fit the nuts up behind the pedals. Image

Any tips for getting the brake reservoir into the master cylinder? I know it ‘pushes in’ but hell it’s tight! Tried a bit of brake fluid as lube but still no joy.

Seeing as the engine is out I thought I’d take a look at the inner CV joints...a touch worn after 179k Image

Finally happy with the tidy up of the chassis legs and engine bay. Huge difference to how it was! Fitted the new inner CV joints and engine mounts, applied some rust proofing wax (Dynax S50) great stuff, especially with the multi directional lance.

Got the engine hoist on and ready...Image

With a little gigerypokery (alone) I got it on the rear mounts. Then jacked on the front mount to tilt the engine back to locate the exhaust manifold

It’s in Image
