Title: Exhaust Down Pipe
Post by: PhilC on August 17, 2021, 07:36:59 AM
Hi All, i am re fitting engine and box on Friday, i have fitted the down pipe between the sub-frame and body and held it in place loosely with a bungee, my question is, is it best to fit the manifold to the down pipe and both the whole thing to the head, or fit the manifold to the head and join them together as I lower (slide) the engine in? Thanks Phil

Answer - fit the manifold to the head, the six nuts to the down pipe are easy to fit after the engine is in.

I'm assuming this is an 8v?
I did as PhilC says. Not sure I'd say they were easy for me to do from the top. I felt a bit of an "engine hugger"  :D. But did them as far as I could by hand before using the socket set.

its 16v KR, got 4 nuts from the bottom with an extension and the rest with a spanner, myself and the engine are expecting our first child in the new year.
