Title: clutch choices
Post by: scs on September 01, 2021, 04:37:42 PM
My 8v gti clutch thrust bearing is on its way out so time for a new clutch after 148000 miles. I am looking for recommendations on what make to buy? I want a standard assy. not a boy racer job.

Just opt for a standard off the shelf LUK clutch, this is what I've gone with in my 1900cc 16v.

The extra cost for a 'Uprated' clutch isnt worth it in the real world.

I paid approximately £100 for a clutch kit that includes new flywheel bolts.

I've used LUK and Sachs clutches. Both standard off the shelf items nothing special

I've got LUK on mine, I was very disappointed when a Sachs one failed due to a manufacturing issue.
