Title: Fuel Tank sender
Post by: richie2480 on July 14, 2022, 11:20:18 PM
Hi all, wondering  if someone can help. Got a problem with my fuel tank sender in a 16v. On occasions the fuel guage is reading quarter but then I run out of fuel. It's happened to me a couple of times now so am now in routine of fueling up at the halfway mark. Anyone got any ideas. I've spoken to my local Mk2 guru and he explained senders are no longer available new. Will I be looking for a replacement or is it repairable?
Thanks

These things were NLA many years ago. After my 8v stopped without fuel despite showing 1/4 tank I realised I was driving an obsolete car. I couldn’t source a new sender.
I cleaned up the original and it is still working to this day. Perhaps you may be able to achive the same. It is just a variable resistor. Connect a multimeter to it and clean until it responds correctly.
