Title: Shell’s Mk2
Post by: vw-widow on May 17, 2020, 08:01:54 PM
Purchased Jun 2019, first outing was the 2019 National Meet.

SORN in Oct and shortly after developed a water leak :( sunroof wasn’t flush.  Seats growing mould, headliner down at the back, mopping water out every few weeks.  I lost faith, she sat gathering dust with a tarpaulin over her.

Today, with the idea of watching some footage and reading the forum I went out, accidentally moved back the headliner part of the sunroof to find a screw loose, it was out the bracket on the sunroof, screwed that back in, sunroof now sits flush, so for the past 3 hours she has been cleaned in and out, feeling quite proud now.

So her she is :)

Gotta love a white one, seems that’s about all we have on here now, check the drains , if you didn’t know the sunroof panel Isn’t waterproof and there are four drains which get blocked up causing water to overflow into the car ....

Didn't realise you had issues Shell, would have helped out.

Mind you...if only there were a forum you could ask advice in... :))

Ok, the neighbours think I’ve publicity lost the plot, just hoovered out the engine bay, removing the squirrels left over nuts!   Cleaned down the sides of the bonnet etc.

Top pic before cleaning I hope you see a difference :)

Your car is looking nice and clean. Great colour as well  8)
When do you intend to put it back on the road?

Is the leak definitely from you having a "screw loose"? :)
Mine was from the fresh air intake not being sealed properly in the bulkhead.

After the rain on Thursday night, Friday morning went into the car and she was dry :D so really hoping this has done the trick, time will tell.
