Title: which batteries for which engines ?
Post by: mk24ever on September 17, 2022, 03:40:52 AM
i forgot to turn off the light for a few days,
and now the car does not fire up 2 times in a row.

i' sorry about the battery, but since it was produced in 2017
it is probably not too bad, to buy a new one at this point, i guess.
but in my car manual, they do not specify a capacity.

is there a list somewhere, which connects engines to batteries ?

its a 90hp machine. the old battery had 55ah,
but the 44ah ones are cheaper, of course
and who knows when i leave the light on next time.
so can i use a 44ah, as in our mk2's with 55hp machines ?

is there a minimal amperage, which the battery should have ?

Haynes recommends 36 to 45 Ah.  However I have a 52 Ah on my 1.8 and sometimes that feels lacking.
I would not risk a 44 Ah on a 1.8

iv'e put a 60ah into the 90hp machine
and moved the 55ah battery to the 75hp machine.

in the other car, the old battery was surprisingly working like a charm again.
the new alternator might have had a positive influence, too.
