Title: 1985 diesel winter no start
Post by: merrittr on November 20, 2022, 05:01:26 PM
Hi All,

I parked my VW golf out for a year unstarted and now it wont start. I added 911 deisel de-geller in tank and in fuel filter (+fresh deisel ).
Still no start I also dont hear a fuel pump when in the run position should I ?

Also when I cowboyed  it and pull off the hose from fuel filter to injector rail there is no pressure so I am assuming it is the pump.

where do i find the pump on a 1985 deisel golf and how do I test it?

Sorry you didn’t get an answer, have you solved the issue now?

I’m unable to help, I’ve never owned a diesel variant.

But I would presume the fuel pump still primes, and I expect it’s under the car same as a petrol, just in front of the rear right hand wheel.
