Title: 1989 LHD Helios Blue 16V
Post by: yellowriv on December 06, 2022, 09:49:04 PM
Hi everyone from Australia. I have just purchased a mint LHD Helios Blue 16V with 90,000 ks. It is stock with factory a/c, which works brilliantly. Originally purchased in Japan it was taken around the world by its purchaser, before landing in Perth. It then came to Sydney. I’m waiting for its history file, so more to come.

I suspect it is a Helios Blue Edition?

What I will need is help with parts suppliers, so recommendations would be appreciated.

Cheers
John

Welcome along, I used Autodoc loads when I was restoring my 8v.
I would say they have long delivery times, but going to Perth, I think any parts are going to be in transit a while!

They're pretty good if you don't mind waiting and are sure you're getting the right part.
Everything comes from Germany so take around 2 weeks, I've not had to send anything back, so not sure how that would work.
But they have loads of different manufacturers that still produce parts and therefore are really cheap.  Especially if you have the part numbers when ordering.
To give you an example, I bought the entire hose kit for my 8v using Gates hoses, cost less than £60.

Thanks Guys.

I need a set of 5 door outer side window rubbers. I can buy a set from China made for a Jetta. Will these fit?

Is there an. OEM supplier of these.

Thanks in advance and best wishes to all for the festive season and 2023.

John

@yellowriv Do you mean the rubber scrapers at the bottom of the windows or the rubber surround.

I got my rubber scapers from Classic VW but not sure what the postage would be for you. Quality is pretty good. Unfortunately they didn't come with any tell-tale manufacturer packing. Looks like VW Heritage sell them too. This link indicates the brand being Kafer but don't know what the quality is like.

Thanks Andy, I need the rubber surrounds.

Can someone advise how to post photos, I’m struggling.

Thanks
John
