Title: Outer Window Scraper Frames
Post by: DTC on February 03, 2023, 04:11:48 PM
Hi Guys,

I'm new here and hope you might be able to help. I've restored most of my 5 door,1991 GTI 8V. It's looking pretty good but I have a problem sourcing outer window scraper frames in black. Mine are rusted and ruin the look of the car. They're not made by anyone and I can't get them through Heritage, Deutscheparts, Volks Magic etc. The part numbers are:
191 853 283 - left front
191 853 284 - right front
193 853 763 B - left rear
193 853 764 B - right rear
I've looked on ebay and there doesn't seem to be anything when I google the part numbers.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Might be wrong but I believe the answer is to buy 3dr scrapers and cut them down to fit.

Thanks.

It's the frames that are  "uncommon" . I got 4 from Matt at Mk2 Spares. You're right about cutting the fronts down to fit the back. Matt explained that they fit better that way as the original rears leave a small gap.

Problem solved via Mk2 Spares :)  :)

It's the frames that are  "uncommon" ! Why did my post get auto-corrected to pretty common actually?
