Title: Car has groaning noise when turning left.
Post by: Beancan on June 02, 2023, 03:25:02 PM
Hi,Everyone,
1988 5dr 8v Gti.No Power Steering.
Car drives fine. However, when I turn to the left, there is an audible groaning noise, and slight vibration, coming from the front,I think.
Have had both front CV Joint Assemblies replaced, but it still does it.Turning right is fine.
Any ideas what could be causing it-is it the tyres,or something else?
Thanks in advance.

Could it be a the right front wheel bearing?
ie left turn load on right front wheel.
Do you get the same symptoms if you freewheel found a left corner so there isn't any power going through the driveshaft....it's obviously rotating tho.

Thanks.
Have had offside bearings replaced, and also nearside CV boot.
Taking it back to the garage Tuesday, but it seems curious.
If anything, it's worse!
