Title: Multi function computer LCD screen
Post by: thedumbterminal on September 27, 2023, 10:40:16 PM
Hi,
I'm currently looking at a GTI to buy and wondered how easy it is to replace a screen on the multi function computer, the car I'm looking at has half the screen as not working, which seems to be fairly common.

Is there a company that specialises in repairing these? does anyone know of a rough cost?

Thanks in advance

Hi it is a fairly easy diy job to replace the screen.

This is a very timely post. I hadn't used my car for a few weeks, went out to it now and from nowhere, the corner has started to bleed.

I don't know if it's weather/heat related. I keep the car covered most of the time now, the weather is so unpredictable so between rain storms there have been some hot days. I don't know if the cover would make the car hotter than without  :o

Anyway, I knew there was a seller on eBay so I've just saved the link. I have stripped down instrument clusters before and I know it's not too bad of a job. I have actually sold a spare LCD screen from dismantled clocks in the past. I guess I should have kept hold of it - doh!
