Title: Rear wiper issues
Post by: Memorextape on August 09, 2020, 10:17:42 PM
My rear wiper will wipe the screen once when the ignition is turned on and not again until I press the switch and it works as normal. If I turn the ignition off after its done its wipe and then immediately turn it back on it doesn't do it, but if I leave it say 30 seconds before turning back on it will wipe again.

I've tried changing the wiper motor, the stalk, the relay and the fuse box with ones I know work fine. I've also checked the wiring to the tailgate for broken wires and everything is good.

Has anyone had this issue before or any more ideas what to try? The car is Ce1 electrics, thanks.

That's an odd one, I would suggest changing the relay and if that doesn't work the stalk etc but you've done that so no idea. sounds like some dodgy wiring or a bad earth somewhere.

A bad earth did cross my mind, but everything else works as it should. I'll have to check that the pins on the back of the fuse box for it are in the right places next then.

Would suggest the boot join but you have done that, maybe a short on some ignition wiring firing up the wiper ?

Good shout, I'll give it a check over too for any suspect wiring.
