Title: Sump Gasket Upgrade.
Post by: Thevdubman on February 26, 2021, 03:42:16 PM
Hi Guys.
Are there any decent sump gasket upgrades available. I've renewed my gasket like for like. All bolts are torqued up nice and the car has been stood for the duration of this pandemic. I start her every other day to get the oil to temp but after all these weeks it looks like its shedding a little tear again. What do you guys recommend?

Your sump may not be flat.

Id opt to use a windage tray as that comes with a good rubber seal

what gasket did you fit? the rubberised version or the old paper/cork type?   only takes little bit of dirt in the sealing face to create a leak.. but you can and could use hylomar blue to create extra sealing properties, only small thin layer on gasket surface.

I've gone from original to rubber and back to OEM.

I got a windage tray, but never used in end as it could the crank. Only needs bit of fetling and would be fine.
Just check this before sealing back up.

That said it is available if interested.
