APRIL 2013

So as you do park up miles from the car next door go to the cash point return and the bitch next door has reversed out and dented you car, saw her driving out as I walked back..... Sssssoooo angry I nearly cried....

After a bit of local research I finally found a guy with a little unit who was suitably impressive with his spraying Vin speech, too many volume company car repair people out there, booked in for tomorrow .........., front page of the local paper , there has been a fire on his industrial estate...... In a body shop.............yep the sodding shop has burnt down.... Is there a conspiracy

5 MOMTHS ON
Got him back today, apart from the engine now being completely grey/primer dust coloured I am really chuffed with the finish and especially the colour match, no need for blending into the adjacent panels :jackson:  :jackson:

Ahh found your thread (I wrote on your porsche courtsey thread). The car looks superb and the alloys do look nice. Hmm I think I will attempt to get them refurb'd.

Thanks, the diamond cut is nice but I have issues with two center caps. Re diamond cutting them is not going to be easy and two refurb people have knocked me back .. sadly the caps which were about £20 are nla.. let me know if you get any luck

Mine are in a terrible state (badly corroded) so not sure if they are savable to be honest. I was thinking of going for one of the diamond cut alternatives instead.

So visited the old boy today as it was nice and sunny, bloody condensation , went around the block and it looked like a steam engine at first, settled down a bit but needs a bit of nice weather and a nice drive to heat the old exhaust up

No two people seem to advocate the same thing... some say it's not good to let the car just tick over without driving it while others say the opposite.

Personally I'm running the 205 for 15 mins or so twice a week. There's occasionally condensation on start up, though not always and if it is present it clears very quickly. The only thing I'm not keen on is the oil filler cap will gather more moisture than if the car was driven, but it's easily wiped away... 205's have wire mesh in the cap to act as a flame trap in case vapours build up, probably also encourages water too.

Truth is I also need a regular fix of exhaust, petrol / oil fumes plus to hear the Jetronic warming up and exhaust burble... bliss.

"sunny"...You had sun today...
That is just so annoying! Its been cold grey drizzly and now snowing here!  >:(

When I haven't started mine up for a while (weeks) I disconnect the dizzy and turn it over a few times to get the oil pressure up before reconnecting and starting. Not sure if that is a good move or not.

With the Beetle 4S turfed out room to bring Vincent to mission control, serious thoughts of selling have been dented after a bit of garage time and Vinnie working his magic on me ,  seats out and hoovered , he is too good to sell…no shampoo but vaxing tomorrow …

I replaced.the brake pedal rubber on mine as the corner had worn through. Easier if you put them in the summer sun to make them more pliable. Now looks 170K with slippers on  :D

Put them in the oven until they go soft.  Can't remember what temperature but not melted a set yet.  Febi do them in a softer rubber, but these are probably not slipper resistant.
