Title: Views on Heritage slam panel
Post by: AndyBa on June 15, 2021, 09:15:34 PM
When I took my slam panel off to make a cutout for the condenser outlet I found it was quite crusty.
I was thinking of getting a second hand one then notice VW Heritage have them for a resonance price. I guess the gauge of the metal isn't to original spec. Has anyone got any feedback to share?

I'm in the same boat, do I refurbish or buy new?

The weight says 2.7kgs, I'm sure the original ones are heavier.

Thanks.
I'll probably keep my eyes peeled on FB marketplace etc for one locally. I'd be wary of the panel being buckled if sent from Europe plus the carriage charge.

I suppose the same can be asked for wishbones and subframes. You can buy new for less than it’ll cost to powder coat.

In my experience repro is usually inferior to original
