Bit of a follow on from the post about tensile strengths -
Been using 7Zap as an aid to getting the correct bolt sizes / pitches and strengths.
Quite often they turn out to be a common spec. and not unique to VW or the MK2.
When that happens you can quite easily source them elsewhere for a fraction of the cost.
Unfortunately 7Zap doesn't always give every measurement you need, paticularily when it comes to thread pitch.
If you've a usable old bolt to measure from then this wee tool will pay for itself - unfortunately before I got it I had to make a few educated guesses at the pitch and it's easy to get wrong, ending up with the wrong bolts. As a one of, no big deal but doing it too often can add up.
I've nothing to do with Pro-Bolt, and there's other measuring tools out there - I just find this one useful as it does sizes as well (and you get a sticker!)
