Engine & Gearbox / Increasing Turbo Diesel Power
Hi all,

I recently bought a 1.6 TD CL, original built in 1986 in Germany, now in Portugal. I believe it has around 65BHP.

I was wondering if there was an easy way of increasing power. I have been looking at buying a GTD Intercooler, would that be worth it?

I've also heard there is a screw on the fuel pump to allow more fuel into the engine? Any little tips and tricks would be much appreciated on my 450,000 km's Golf :)

Hi all!

I am the new proud owner of a 1986 Mk2 Golf CL 1.6 Turbo Diesel. It's registered in Portugal and is in pretty poor cosmetic condition.

I'm excited to fix it up and do little bits and bobs with it, and thats why I'm here!

First step... the paintwork 🤣.
