I will imminently have arriving with me a very tidy set of 4no. Enkei 92, 15x7, ET 38 4x100 72.6 GGM wheels c/w hub rings and bolts to allow fitment on a VW Mk2 or Mk3 Golf. Also have the original receipt totalling £513.
Google will bring up pictures of them. Sort of 'BBS style cross spoke type'
They are fitted with 195/50 R15 Avon ZV7 tyres, bought new in 2018 with approximately 6mm of tread -again with receipt for £200.
I would be looking for £ 300 ono for them, with collection from me in Bristol.
Some of you may have seen that I am looking for a Mk2 Golf van, and have been for some time.
Although ideally after a standard unmodified one, I have come across a 1991 one, in reasonably tidy condition - BUT it has a 20VT conversion.
From what info I've gleaned from speaking to the seller and seeing some advert photos, it has:
'AUG or AGU' engine wired in with 'proper loom' TDI gearbox VR6 clutch which is hydraulic Coilover suspension
.....the rest being believed to be standard Mk2 stuff - including the brakes!
Whilst I know my Mk2's quite well, having owned four unmodified ones since 1989, I know very little about 20VT conversions - other than it was the 'modders' engine conversion of choice from the early 2000's onwards.
My main initial concerns, having not yet gone to see the car yet as its 200 miles away are:
Standard brakes with 150 PS plus power - surely inadequate and likely to have insurance implications? 'Coilovers' not getting the best press regards ride comfort, compared with decent standard shocks and springs - which I've always been used to How well the conversion was done - electrically and mechanically Reliability of these engines and more importantly availability of spare parts, ability to repair service and upkeep
I'd be interested to hear of any experiences or views please, which I am happy to have posted here.
Hello Its Richard from Bristol - just re-registered after finding the site had changed.
I have my 1991 8v 5 door silver GTi, which I've had four about 4 years - does me sterling service but only comes out on dry days!
I had Mk2s back in the day (1988- 1992) a 1988 F Reg CL and a 1987 E Reg 16v GTi.
I'm currently looking for an unmolested Mk2 Golf van if anybody knows of one, having very nearly bought a brand new one in 1991 for my electrical business!
