Having got excited with the application of polish and getting it on the hard plastic parts of the car ,I wonder if anyone has found a way of removing it.
I thought I would change the oil in my gearbox as it is not a scheduled item. Bought the correct oil drained the contents of the gearbox about 1/4 liter of oil drained out. Luckily the car has not been driven far and the gearbox appears fine. 2 liters refilled and all ok. Just a warning for owners to remember to check the level occasionally. Could save a lot of grief.
The mfa display in my gti is blank I have another set of clocks/instrument cluster that I can see if its just a replacement display or something more. My question is this is a ce2 one plug panel can I remove the plug from the fitted panel and connect it to the replacement without taking the fitted panel out.? In other words is it just a plug in job with enough cable to drop low enough to make the connection. scs
whilst cleaning the air box the clip holding the temp sensor and the connection to the air flap fell to pieces allowing the unit to fall out. My question is should the temp sensor be in the top position? scs
I am not good with electrics so I need help to identify where a stray wire should be connected to. The wire in question exits the loom which goes to the distributor it also connects the oil temp switch for the mfa and the blue water temp sensor. The wire I cant place leaves this main loom and has a white plug that is numbered 123 I think only 2 wires leave the plug. This wire is currently insulated and taped to the clutch outer cable. Where should it connect? car is 1990 8v gti. scs
My 8v gti clutch thrust bearing is on its way out so time for a new clutch after 148000 miles. I am looking for recommendations on what make to buy? I want a standard assy. not a boy racer job. scs
When I bought the car the mfa did not work. I have investigated and believe the display screen is shot I have sourced a replacement screen. Further to that I found the vacuum pipe disconnected I have not tried to connect it as the pipe looks to small a diameter the question is is there an adaptor between the two? The car is a 1990 with ce2 electrics. scs
I am a bit of nerd for originality my 1990 8v gti has had an alpine cd player fitted. What I would like to know is what radio cassette model should be fitted? scs
When I got my mk2 the wipers all worked now however nothing works on the wiper stalk. Fuse checked and is intact. power is getting to the plug. Nothing works front or rear or washers. Would the whole lot fail at once if the stalk is faulty? scs
Like many golfs the windscreen scuttle is rusty near the blanked off wiper hole I suspect the rust under the screen seal has developed into a hole. The question is can you get a small repair plate or do you replace the whole panel? the problem is the whole panel from heritage is for the early model so you need to drill a new hole for the wiper so would not look correct as it would be flat. I would also replace the windscreen seal but want a good quality one so any recomendations. Many thanks scs

Hi new member in East Devon recently purchased mk2 8v gti this is the third golf I have owned over the years from a 1.6 cl next a 16v gti now an 8v gti which needs a small amount of work amazingly nothing major for a 31year old car. I will need a little help in locating a few odd parts so will list in the wanted forum soon.
