Engine & Gearbox / Re: Random misfire
Usually the connectors for the spark plugs look like this.

They can sometimes open out and stop contacting the plugs properly.

Sometimes all it takes is squeezing them (carefully) with a pair of pliers.
Just checked my magnacore leads are not as your picture  Monkey, the connection is circular.
Unfortunately pliers are not going to work they probably need replacing.

No worries.
Before you go attacking anything, I'd recommend you take a plug out the car (or use a spare, if you have one) and test each lead out of the engine.  That way you can get a good idea of how hard the plug leads are holding on.
Great idea I get my clumsy fat fingers to work the weekend,  the daily has new ceramic coated exhaust tips to fit also.

I’ve heard some negative reports about the magnecor leads. No personal experience of them though. You could just buy cheap leads and see if it solves the problem. I got some from ecp that I don’t think were expensive and had no issues from them for years. Best isn’t always most expensive. Just food for thought.
I think you're right I'll think about some other leads other than magnacore, I checked them again they just don't feel a secure fit on the sparkplugs.

Engine & Gearbox / Random misfire
Hello am looking for some advice please,  on one occasion my mk2 gti 8v k-jet started misfiring randomly for a few minutes then cleared.
The only obvious thing I can find is the sparkplug leads don't seem to fit snuggly with abit of movement when wiggled side to side.
As am running magnecor leads I don't want to rush out and replace them without advice first, as they aren't cheap.
Should I just buy new leads and stop being a tight arse or book it into a garage?
I really hate the thought of breaking down especially with our little lad in the noisy old car.

Interior, Upholstery & Trim / Re: Seats 3dr and 5dr the same bases????
Dubstock have looked after me and a height adjustable base is being shipped out to me, I've ordered new seat foam for both front seats direct from Germany.
Frustratingly a 30 day order time on foam bases.
Add in new cables and runner guides and it's got expensive.
Let's hope my butter fingers don't wreck my interior.

Have you tried Matt Palmer, MK2 spares?

There’s probably a lot of people not selling right now, I’ve got things I need to eBay but stashing in the garage but I’m not currently inviting strangers to my home, or making unnecessary trips to the post office.

Just hang in there.
I've tried both Matt Palmer and Dubstock they  "uncommon" ly reply to emails and then usually drop off the face of the earth once you ask for a price....
