Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: Mods
At the end of the day, it’s your car so just do whatever you want to make it uniquely yours. If you are worried about it’s future value, keep the mods to things that are easily reversible. Most important thing is you treasuring your Mk2 for years to come  8)  8)

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: GTI Register
I'd happily stick my details on the register (my car details obviously as I don't think you are setting up some kind of Tinder.....).

Not sure what kind of label you would give my car.  It's kind of slowly going back to OEM but looking at it up close it's more like OMG  :))  :))

Another year goes by and the man from the ministry deems it worthy of another 12 months on the road with no advisories!!

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: Interior Suggetions
If you let us have a preferred location, it would help.  There's an excellent trimmer close to me in South East London but if you are in Scotland it would probably be a bit far!!

Engine & Gearbox / Re: Pierburg Carburettor replacement / refurb
Edit - I took a stupid amount of photos during stripping it down so I didn't screw up putting it back together, happy to upload them somewhere if it's the same carb and that would help at all.
If you are willing to do that, it would be a fantastic source of info for others with this carb.  Just start a new thread in this section (Technical -> Engine & Gearbox) as it is the best place for it.

Your Non Mk2 Cars or Bikes / Re: Eddypeck's '93 BMW 318i Touring
My sister had a 1990 1.6i auto back in 2002 and whilst it was quite a pretty decent car to drive, it felt pretty soulless.  To be fair, the fact that it had a pretty asthmatic 1.6 which was mated to a 4 speed auto box and would struggle to out drag her previous Metro 1.2 to 60 clouded my judgement somewhat!

It did have one option which I am sure no longer features on more modern BMW's.  There was a lever sticking out of the steering column that when activated, turned on orange flashing lights that told other drivers the direction you wish to travel.  Why BMW have stopped using this is a strange one as surely it could be seen as some kind of safety feature  :))

It's solid in all the right places. Sills, arches, A Pillars (from what we can see by shining a torch in there) jacking points and floorpans. It's just that rear end that's a let down.

Does anyone have a picture of how the rear end should look, as I seem to remember the rear panel of early ones were different to late ones?
Have a look at this thread - https://www.vwgolfmk2.co.uk/clubforum/index.php?topic=324.0.  No VW badge in the middle and a smaller badge with the Volkswagen script on the left of the panel.

New Members Say Hi! / Re: Hi all
Just looked at the Youtube video and it looks like you have a great find there!!!  At 93,000 miles it is just about run in  8) .  Word advice from someone who has experienced the joys of mice living in the car..........................pull the dash forwards and check behind for nests as they do like to nest behind there and have a nibble on the wiring!!
