MFA July 23, 2023, 09:17:54 PM Hi all, hoping this is the right section. I've got a problem with my MFA, as in in external temp is not giving me a reading. I've spoken to my local VW specialist and he says there is nothing wrong with temp quage and that it might be an MFA problem. Anyone got any ideas. I have seen details about a BILTECHNIK that does MAF repairs but I can't find any contact details.
Re: MFA Reply #1 – July 24, 2023, 01:59:44 AM i have not known about a external temperature reading in a gti.is the instrument included in the digital clock, or where is it exactly ?with a little bit of effort, the facia panel could be unmountedand one could probably check the signal of the sensor on the plug there.
Re: MFA Reply #2 – July 24, 2023, 12:46:12 PM The temp sensor looks like a little plastic fixing and pushed through the left hand side front wing behind the bumper. Sometimes you see them lose in the engine bay, assuming someone did some work, and didn't know what it was and where it went so left it hanging.Quote from: richie2480 on July 23, 2023, 09:17:54 PMI've spoken to my local VW specialist and he says there is nothing wrong with temp quage and that it might be an MFA problem. I'd be interested to know what they tested to come up with this conclusion. The parts involved are:The the sensor in the wingThe switch on the stalk - if it cycles through the functions I can't see this being an issueThe onboard computer bit of the MFA itself - if the other functions are working I can't see how that would be an issue The wires that join the above components togetherI'd be tempted to look for the sensor, check it's condition and follow the wires back through the bay.
Re: MFA Reply #3 – July 24, 2023, 03:51:20 PM I would agree with the sensor being the problem. Access through the left front wheel arch.
