Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: Covid MOT extension
I know it’s Kwik fit but they book an mot online , choose your time slot £25-30..... I have to sort 5 mots so that’s quite a saving and it’s not an all day job

This made me think of you booking 5 slots on a single day and drip feeding them with cars. Therfore you'd only need one lift back from dropping the first car and a lift there to pick up the last one! That could be a very expensive day though :{)!

But back to Tim's point you really need your test date when the weather is reasonable and the daylight hours are long just incase there is an issue you can fix yourself.

Thanks. I did see both types on ebay and did wonder which would be best. I'm not after the LED look, just a brighter light.

You are possibly right. I recall seeing an SN1 in the kit car mags in its day. Nice styling although I wouldn't want to have an accident in one.

Had to smile at your tag....Eagle is another kit car based on a Beetle!

Has anyone "upgraded" their MK2 Golf tail lights with LED bulbs and were they an improvement?
I've always been a bit disappointed with the intensity of the rear tail lights on my Golf. It's probably because the bulb is behind a reflector type lense. Sometimes when it's muggy it seems they are too dull to see clearly, but using rear fogs would be too extreme/annoying. Any suggestions?

Nice seats Tim

I used a hosepipe to clean my sponge base and the "horsehair" seat back, amazing how much dirt came out. I forgot to use the steamer to plump the foam back up tho.
I note you have used duck-type tape to secure the foam, assume there aren't any problems with the glue melting in our roasting hot summers?

I need to finish the heated seat install in mine and will be putting new soundproofing under the carpet since some of it is missing after previous waterleaks into the car.

MK3 top mounts fitted with the Eibach springs. Just need to take it for a whizz and check the results. If all good I'll get the alignment done.

Maybe do the seat inserts to match MK5 GTI style  :D !
Not to my taste but it's your car and you can change it in the future.
Can't you get material similar to the original or are you wanting to brighten up the sober interior?

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: Lockdown mk2 jobs
Today I unearthed a MK3 front top mount set I have yet to fit. My car is currently slightly nose-up on MK2 top mounts so I'm wondering if I should put my pair of Eibach progressive lowered springs to make it sit level. Most write-ups on swapping the mounts indicate it raises the front and I'm not a fan of it looking nose-up. I don't intend swapping the rear springs but any thoughts on fitting the lowered springs just on the front anyone?

This week I modded a dash blank to house the heated seat contols.
Took a bit of thinking through. Just noted that the switch the kit comes with fits but isn't the same style.
End result.

It's a bit mangled round its base but you can't see that when it's installed.
Now just need to install the heated pads to the passenger seat and connect it all up.
