2nd gear problem

Hi everyone .... i have a MK2 1988 and i had an issue with the 2nd gear ,first month it was hard to go to the 2nd ,after i took my car to a mechanic , he made it worst than before  >:(  , i cant go to the 2nd gear at all  :(  , so i heard that its all about gear linkage adjustment .
After hours searching for a video about that adjustment non of them gave me a simple tutorial ..... so if some one has a video or pics please send it .

THX  :)

It's likely not the adjustment but worn bushes on the linkage.

Watch this video, this is how mine was when I got it.

There should be bushes on the linkage so there isn't any of that movement. When the bushes are all replaced then you can set the alignment.

This is the kit you need. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220783472995?hash=item3367b87163:g:50kAAOSwrAFgI9fd

If you look at the first page of my build thread you'll see I tackled this job, https://www.vwgolfmk2.co.uk/clubforum/index.php?topic=118.0

It could be it needs adjustment - mine does too at the moment. I did have no 1st and third, adjusted it and now have 1, 3 and 5th but no 2nd and 4th! :) I used this tool (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154296905132?hash=item23eccfedac:g:RYQAAOSwvSBaYPDN) but it really DOES need two people to do this. One to loosen off but two to tighten back up. One holding the gearstick and tool in place and one to tighten the linkage collar back up again. I tried to do it on my own - without success! Also note the tool goes on both ways but only one way is correct (see their picture in the auction)
