Stop the Leak! Please.

Hey folks,

Hopefully someone can help me. I'm at my absolute wits-end with my MK2 leaking.

The car has to be parked with the nose facing slightly down hill, with the drivers door closest to the kerb (which also means the camber of the road means the drivers side is lower than the passengers.

The passenger door seal is leaking at the front. The seal is perfect, the drain holes in the door are clear, the vapour barrier is sealed water-tight (even though it looks crap) the water is just pooling at the point pictured, entering the car and soaking the passenger side footwell. What can I do?

I can't get a photo to work on this site. But the Flickr link is below.

Hi - mine was doing the same but it did turn out to be the membrane - just had a small fail

I tucked in the old membrane and did a half membrane at the bottom- if that makes sense

can you confirm its not the membrane? Try opening the door and poor water onto the outside of the window and check if the seal is keeping the water out.

Given the location it could be something else and the wet patch on the door seal could be red herring. Could be the fresh air intake in the scuttle.

My thoughts too, while you're checking the scuttle, make sure the drain holes either end aren't blocked.
If they are, water will pool here and find a way into the car.
