Might be worth a shot, with it being a 92 I had an issue with the famous ignition switch, would start sometimes and other times nothing, would crank all day and not start, your wet plugs could just be from flooding trying to start it.
There was an ignition switch fault on some later cars.
The auto adjusting ones can be reset, might be worth trying, push the lever all the way down and release, the ratchet mechanism will take up the slack, I had bother with one back in the day and swapped it out for the manual cable that has the knurled plastic nut on for adjustment.
As far as I know it is Mars Red on the 7 slat and Tornado Red on the 5 slat, but there maybe some crossover as I'm sure my 89 small bumper was Mars but was 5 slat, I just assume all big bumper cars were Tornado
Yeah Martin is fine, was only a 20 ish mph crash, guy pulled out on him and admitted full liability, chassis leg is bent and the floor so thy have put a CAT B on it, he's bought it back just for parts but the shell will have to be scrapped, was agreed value so the build cost is mostly covered.
No I was on new stock shocks and springs, boge, the rear as standard is quite soft, you may be ok with stiffer springs as it may not bounce so much but it will be tight, tyre to arch.
You might have issues with 195/50, I had ATS cups on mine 7x15 ET20 195/50/15 so similar, although you are 5mm more in the arch on the ET you have an extra half inch width so from centre out about 6.25mm so puts you around the same offset, I rubbed ever so slightly over crests when the rear came down, front was fine and it was only a small amount on the rear, i'd keep the 45's on for now and see how it goes
Mk3 Golf rear hinges should fit, weld to body, may have to extend the locating bars each side to click into the mk2 retaining points, the base should just fit in as there are more holes in the body already
