cancelled again

VWFestival 2021 postponed!!
It is with great regret that we are having to announce that this year’s VW Festival has been postponed to 12th-14th August 2022.
Whilst the government has set up a road map to exit lockdown, nothing is for certain and everything relies on the figures on June 21st. Some large festivals have confirmed they are going to be checking passports and / or testing their audience on the gate. This would be nearly impossible and very expensive for us to administer at the Harewood entrance.
We have spent a long time running through the different options of keeping the show going this year, but there are too many unknowns involved in the show being able to go ahead. The health, safety and welfare of the general public is our number one priority and we just can’t guarantee which government’s rules and restrictions may be in place by August. To add to the risk, no event insurance company will cover any Covid-related cancellations.
VW Festival is a large event organised throughout the year, by a very small team of hard-working VW enthusiasts headed up by John, Paul and Shane. The VWFestival team is deeply disappointed to admit defeat this year, despite our best efforts. Having missed last year, we were really looking forward to putting on the best VWFestival yet, but sadly we can’t take the risk and feel it would be irresponsible to do so. We want to make sure that VWFestival is here for the next 10+ years for you all to enjoy.
Ticket and trader information
If you have bought tickets to VW Festival 2020 or 2021, your tickets will automatically be rolled over to VW Festival on 12th to 14th August 2022. Again we have to thank all of our current 2020 ticket holders who have supported us and kept the show going by letting us roll your tickets over; this is genuinely appreciated! If you have any ticket questions or would like a refund, please reply to this email.
Thank you
The team would like to thank all our visitors again for their continued support, you have always been so loyal and enthusiastic, and this has made the decision all the more difficult. We would also like to thank our suppliers who have been very supportive in passing our deposits over to 2022. The show wouldn’t be able to continue without this support. We look forward to welcoming you all back to Harewood in 2022.
Paul, John, Shane and the entire VW Festival team.

Engine & Gearbox / Re: Running lumpy following service
HI Eddy

on 8v yes pump to filter then onward to the engine bay so as you say.. ..  on 16v  goes  pump >filter> accumulator.  great isnt it service a car and make it worse...  Im loath to touch own car whilst running..  i know rocker is leaking, but i just keep topping up, as i dont want to distrub vac pipes.
go round engine bay with wd40 or brake cleaner, easy start see if vac leaks are there from moving air filter etc.  car will rev if sucking fumes in.

Earths and cables are crap on mine, car is dodgy starter always has been, but alternator, starter, ignition module, fuel pumps  and accumulator are all replaced  in my ownership. Battery never seems to take a good charge... little jumper starts it...so i keep habdy on all drives out

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: Does this look right
they are not the correct hoses for that area.. thats the fuel accumulator, should be a banjo to pump and screw nut.  a decent attempt though, you can get good clips that close better.

https://www.classic-vw.co.uk/mk2-golf-jetta-fuel-supply-pipe-accumulator-to-fuel-filter-191201218-7562-p.asp  ask for kennys discount...

General Chat / Re: AUTODOC experience
Autodoc seem to exclusively use GLS when shipping to the UK and I believe they're a wholly owned subsidiary of Parcelforce... check out  GLS on Trustpilot if you really want to see bad reviews!

Some of the tracking does suggest it's coming in via the Republic of Ireland, but I would've thought that'd be a bonus... in theory no GB hold ups because of Brexit.

They are without doubt generally the cheapest and also by some margin on alot of things, just a shame it's such a lottery when it comes to getting it and when.

I've got into the habit of always checking Amazon now, before finally clicking elsewhere.

They often have just one or two of something, presumably the end of stock and marked way down to get rid of it... got an oil cooler and a Hella / Mahle water pump (bought two they were so cheap - one for the MK1 when the time comes) for small money, worth trying.

if coming in via republic of Ireland then yes its subject to Eurozone rules... As only Northern Ireland is Uk...
As for hold ups and delivery it depends on how much you're ordering and how many deliveries you're expecting.  1 in 3 of my deliveries have taken 3 weeks or more, so unless youre planning to do a job in say MAY then still better at autofactors locally.

Plus dont forget prices dont inc shipping, until check out.  was getting cheapo alternator that came with VAT invoice that made it 5£ dearer than same unit at Alliance motor parts, and took 2 weeks rather than 3 hrs

Engine & Gearbox / Re: Seized Distributor...
Very useful site that... plenty of info. to help identify or cross reference Bosch / VW numbers.

They also surprised me and had the exact one I was after, though only in reconditioned form. No one else that I could find in the UK stocked or could get it.

The stem on my original was getting chewed up and it eventually lost a small chunk from the base before it caved in and freed itself.

The list price Ignitioncarparts were quoting would've needed me to exchanged it to recoup a surcharge and it was going to be a gamble whether or not it would've been acceptable to them.

The German one was NOS Bosch with no exchange and even adding postage / VAT has (so far!) worked out about half the price... if there is some additional duty to pay it should still be a bit cheaper in the end, plus I keep the original... That's since cleaned up quite well with some sanding, though there's still a bit missing which is a shame, even though it's only cosmetic.

I'm the first to admit I lucked out getting the German one as it was a one of, don't see that happening again. Doubly so because that particular version in any condition seems hard to get - another legacy of it being a late model car, don't know?

If it hadn't been for that I wouldn't have hesitated to take the recon. one... even at full whack it was still a fair price for a Bosch.

Hmmm never had to send 1 back yet... maybe times have changed.... its 3 yrs since last bought for mk2, have had a fair few for mk1s though, never needed to return.. Cant think though last 1 i got.

Last major item as such was a starter, under brand NAPA turns out is a bosch reboxed.  and 30 cheaper.. although not put on car yet
