I.C.E & Electrical / trailer indicator warning light
in germany, it is mandatory to have a green
trailer indicator warning light in the cockpit. how is it in the uk ?

which is the professional way of equipping a mk2 with such ?
would it somehow go into the facia panel ?

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: plastic-parts for 3d-printing
thank you, i will consider.

@Monkey i saw you did some blanks
for the switches in the window control panel :-)

since i've probably holed to much blanks (trailer light and stuff),
i think about redoing the blanks next to the radio.
however, this could be a nightmare in openscad.

Members' Cars / Re: G135EPB 8v GTI
you took out the windscreen.
how to and how big of a deal is it ?

i had some rust creeping under the rubber,
which i could have treated better without.

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: plastic-parts for 3d-printing
thank you :-)

recently i remade the stub on the back of the radio
which goes into a hole at the end of it's shaft.

does somebody know how to call it and this kind of shaft ?
such could help me with the description.

Mk2 Parts Wanted / Re: mud flaps
shure ? my mk2 came with them
plus i have seen them on the wreck yard car,
which was a golf 2 held by the german post office.

if you where right, i should, of coarse, have the old ones on,
but is it possible, that some mk2's where equipped
with the new ones by factory ?

Mk2 Parts Wanted / mud flaps
since i have to go off-road from time to time
and do not like the hole side and rear muddy,
i am searching for 2, 6 or 8 mud flaps.

it may look like a old man's car, then,
but yes, i want it, plus i already have 2
on the front side.

once i saw them on a wreck yard,
but they scrapped the car all to fast.

i found a fitting manual (mk3, but same for mk2)
and a picture out of an out of stock offer:

may anyone give me a hint, where i may get them cheep ?
they do not need to be new.

Technical / Re: Electrolysis
as for the washing soda thing.. ..is the power consumption worth it ?

regarding zinc, there was an electroplating part
in @Monkey 's illustrated thread about gti restoration,
which i enjoyed very much.

as he did, i will probably try this one day, too.

@PWardy you regretted it ? to messy ?

Engine & Gearbox / 4 or 5 gears ?
going steady 30 km/h in the 3rd, steady 50 km/h in the 4th,
but from 70 km/h on, i would miss a fifth gear on my already farreaching 55 ps.

has vw had a reason for the 4-gear-standard (which some call robust) ?

Members' Cars / Re: Red Rescue
nice pictures :-) would you make a pic of this golf ball lever in full ?
i wonder how close the thingiverse version is.

what is this solution finish, which you use for your plastic parts ?
i used good old stinky shoe cream, got similar results, but needed a lot.

some screws i even got in stainless. for the rest of them:
is there a guide about this electrolysis thing ?

is your back side emblem missing ? i broke the pins on mine.
do you have a source ?

i guess it could be 3d-printed too,
but this would take time and i mainly use openscad
where i code parts more, than i design them..
..long story short: some parts i like more than others.
one maybe could ask the guy, who did the front side emblem.
it came out very nice and was pretty close to the original.
the inner edges maybe a notch to round.
