Mk2 Parts for Sale & Breaking / car radios
edit feb 21, 2022: i no longer want to give away those 4 radios. sry 4 the fuzz.

would anybody be interested in one of these:

the upper one is from ebay.
it makes a new impression and smells like it,
i just removed the radio support spigot
(and some gew it was glued on with) for 3d modelling
and put it back after (it is tight without gew).

the 2nd, 3rd and maybe the 4th where factory fitted in our mk2's.

edit feb 20, 2022: the 4th, we apparently got from a scrapyard.

edit feb 21, 2022: again: i no longer want to give away those 4 radios.

General Chat / Re: Test your knowledge!
@L90E thank you :-) it is indeed missing.

this is the other part, i found in the drivers footwell:

does somebody know what it is and where it belongs ?

Members' Cars / Re: Red Rescue
is the actual engine a 112 ps one ?
do you know the reason, why your previous 8v gti  was better on fuel ?
how desirable are the g60 and g60 limited machines ?

regarding 16v, i watched this test drive
and there was some crackling when he throttled back. why is such ?

for engine sounds, i have now started this separate thread.

Mk2 Golf Chat / engines by sound
after looking at various threads about members cars,
i wonder how the engines sound like.

instead of asking it over and over, i thought
it could be nice, to collect them somewhere,
which is why i created this thread.

who would share some audio ? :-)

General Chat / Re: Test your knowledge!
i'm finding funny parts near the pedals,
one of which i displaced after taking it into the house.

it was a black plastic part, being shaped
like a little ball on a disc.
the ball was, about 1 cm in diameter
and the disc of about 2 or 3
(about like a m10 washer).

a ball joint of some sort ?
maybe something from the seat ?

I.C.E & Electrical / radio switch
somewhere, maybe here, i have seen a switch -> with a music note emblem <-
technically a rear window heater switch (source: febi bilstein website):

such could probably used for making the radio
not shine on me and stuff, when it is off.

does somebody know the source ?

probably something like digifiz,
but they to rather make panels.

Members' Cars / Re: Red Rescue
this is not much more than my 55ps needs.
i probably should have wanted a gti..

the 8v does not sound as sore as the 16v
and there is no crackling, true ?
how does this 6v 3.2 sound ?

Members' Cars / Re: Red Rescue
sad.

at some point i would have possibly bought a gti, too,
but for bigger trips, i like my economic 55 ps mk2,
so i would not like to put more horsepower into it.

how much fuel does your gti need ?
i also wonder how it sound like, from the drivers perspective.

regarding stainless i had the screws, attaching the fenders, in mind,
but, as it appears, such should not be used with heavy loads
(see edit of my post, reply 140, above).
i'm so glad, i posted about "some screws" in reply 137.

Members' Cars / Re: Red Rescue
@monkey: @pwardy said i should not use stainless,
cause of the washers not being attached to the screws,
but since rusting screws can cause a lot of damage,
i can live with that. plus i can adapt the washer size
with my lathe, but was not necessary.

edit: i got it wrong. this is not what @pwardy said (see his edit).

if we are on it:
i dismissed frames with considerably fewer rust problems.

why are you guys putting so much effort in fixing frames ?
wouldn't it be easier to transform a cl with a good one ?

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: plastic-parts for 3d-printing
finally my bolt for the radio:

carradio backsidestub (@PWardy sry 4 being ->stub<-born, but appreciate..)

to the admins:

what would you think about a subboard,
for instance 3D-Print under car parts or whatever is appropriate,
where one could roll out one mk2 plastic part per thread ?

thingiverse stuff:

differing golf ball gear knob (see here following this, pic here, too)

@Monkey i found caps like yours on thingiverse,
but also liner nut's, like mine (see threadstarter),
which do not have this additional bar on one side.

to be continued..

edit: dead link

Mk2 Golf Chat / Re: is 3d-printing plastic parts legal ?
parts without vw-logo and partnumber
might be an improvement in it of it self.
it is, for instance, easier to clean flat surfaces.

plus if the page is right, i should be safe.
moreover it is said, that vw goes easy on oldtimer lovers.

therefore i've done stuff
and put a linklist.
