according to the febi bilstein partsfinder, there are 10 mm and 12 mm thick breakdiscs (i couldn't get it up in english), for the 55hp machine.
but the wear off maximum is always 2 mm. why ? cause of the burr forming on the outside ? would one need different calipers for 10 and 12 mm brake discs ?
for 75hp machines they only recommend 10 mm discs. why ? thicker discs for more powerful machines, would have been my guess.
the disaster has occurred after trailer hitch installations. with a golf everything was fine, but with a jetta not so much. that is, when the trailer is on:
car
trailer
indicator
ok
ok
brake light
ok
ok+right numberplate lighting, right rear light
rear light
rear fog light
ok+rear fog light
rear fog light
rear fog light (!)
ok
reversing light
rear fog light
rear light, rear fog light, right number plate lighting
plus when i hit the brakes, the rear fog light control light lights up.
the wiring in the trunk should be ok. maybe something on the exchange indicator relay ?
edit:
control light while braking: rear window defroster -> rear fog light
wanting to change the brake pads my self this time, i found the screws i the brake calipers are stuck.
the car has been seldomly drived and, even if i have not seen it yet, probably corrosion did its work, there.
i can feel the torsion of the screws. putting like diesel on it did not help.
what to do best ? i would be a bit reluctant of ripping them off intentionally and coping with the damage afterwards.
should i have it been don professionally ? there is a garage in town who was able to get some nasty screws (on the exhaust bend) out.
on the other hand, if i could get good spare calipers, it is probably cheaper than letting the mechanic on and if i have bad luck he will break the screws himself. then i have to pay spare calipers as well as his work.
i know i could have the creachy blower motor new for a few bugs, but i would really like to save the original from the 80's (leave the frame fixing for me, a family member dropped it)
so, how to remove the split pins from the shaft ?
how would you fix the screaching (the fan blades do vibrate from time to time around the motor axis) ?
right after starting the automatic drive mk2, the idle speed is about ok, maybe a bit ruff. after some driving it gets much higher.
when is switch to neutral on traffic lights and later back, it gives it quite a shock. therefore this especially matters. but maybe i should not switch to neutral on traffic lights anyway ? it is just that the motor has to work harder, then.
where to adjust the idle speed ? is there a manual about it ? one may feel free to ask, if additional info is necessary.
specific with the comfy gl upholstery, after some use, a mdf clamping bar is dangling on the fabric edge on the back of the seat (so, probably first on the drivers seat).
@8v_chris has posted a picture, which illustrates the problem (which made posting tempting):
has @8v_chris/anyone fixed this before ? what to do best ?
edit feb 21, 2022: i no longer want to give away those 4 radios. sry 4 the fuzz.
would anybody be interested in one of these:
the upper one is from ebay. it makes a new impression and smells like it, i just removed the radio support spigot (and some gew it was glued on with) for 3d modelling and put it back after (it is tight without gew).
the 2nd, 3rd and maybe the 4th where factory fitted in our mk2's.
edit feb 20, 2022: the 4th, we apparently got from a scrapyard.
edit feb 21, 2022: again: i no longer want to give away those 4 radios.
